Position Overview
The Senior Project Coordinator – HI-REAP will be responsible for leading and coordinating the Himalayan Resilience Enabling Action Programme (HI-REAP), a component of the UK’s FCDO Climate Action for Resilient Asia (CARA) initiative. The role requires high-level strategic coordination, results-oriented project management, and engagement with global and regional partners.
Key Responsibilities
- Programme Management & Coordination: Oversee the delivery of HI-REAP results across multiple components, ensuring alignment with ICIMOD’s Strategy 2030.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the main contact point between ICIMOD and FCDO, managing partnerships with government agencies, financial institutions, and other global stakeholders.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Ensure timely submission of financial and operational reports to FCDO and other partners, track programme performance, and drive continuous improvement.
- Financial & Budget Management: Oversee the budget utilization of HI-REAP, ensuring expenditures align with project deliverables and compliance with FCDO financial requirements.
- Thought Leadership: Promote evidence-based solutions for climate resilience, social inclusion, and nature-based solutions (NBS), while strengthening community capacities.
- Strategic Communication: Represent ICIMOD in international forums and enhance visibility of HI-REAP’s impact through various media and knowledge-sharing platforms.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor a team, including a Programme Officer and Communications Officer, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
- Postgraduate degree in public policy, environmental sciences, climate change, sustainable development, or related fields.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in multi-country projects focused on climate resilience and development.
- At least 5 years of leadership experience in managing complex programs, interdisciplinary teams, and large budgets.
- Proven ability to engage with government agencies, international organizations, and private sector stakeholders.
- Strong knowledge of policy frameworks related to climate finance, sustainable development goals (SDGs), and regional collaboration.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills in English.
Preferred:
- Experience working in the HKH region or similar mountain environments.
- Knowledge of climate finance mechanisms and investment networks.
- Commitment to gender equality and social inclusion.
Compensation & Benefits
- Annual Salary: USD 67,175 (negotiable based on experience).
